Rubble in the Box - Brick Red

Juweela is a German firm which specializes in scenic / diorama materials that seem to be largely directed at the model railroading hobby, but are quite acceptable for military modelers as well. They produce a wide range of interesting, unique and useful materials. For a look at their range of products check out www.juweela.de .

AMPS had done several reviews of Juweela products some years back, and their products were favorably reviewed. It's nice to see that Juweela has expanded their product lineup since then, bringing modelers some very interesting products!

This product is intended to depict rubble, most commonly a structural rubble due to it's nicely muted red brick color.

What's in the Box?

The rubble material is packaged in a zip lock bag. As stated on the package, the provided material weighs 200 grams, which works out to just over 7 ounces.

The amount of product supplied in this package is generous, particularly if it is mixed with other similar media that Juweela produces.

Above - seen with a quarter to show the size of the rubble material, the above handful of material shows the random nature of the rubble  material and it's medium brick red color. The material has nice, realistic smooth and rough textures on it, and is of varied sizes and shapes. The material is ceramic, and it will take weathering agents such as pigments and washes well.

A small amount of the rubble strewn at random on a MiniArt base. The random nature of the individual rubble pieces is appropriate for the scale ( 1/35 ), and the color is also very appropriate as well.

Other materials can easily be added to this rubble for increased visual interest, and in my experience the ceramic materials used for this rubble can be enhanced quite easily with paint washes and / or pigments.

Conclusions

In my opinion this product is very well suited for use by armor modelers.

The material is made to a high standard being ceramic. It can be sawed or cut down if desired, and it will take paints, washes, or pigments very well. The color is an appropriate muted non garish tone, and easily be "adjusted" as desired by the modeler. The amount of the product provided in the package is generous, and may be enough for multiple projects, depending on just how tall your piles of rubble will be.

This is another useful product for your diorama base tool box from Juweela! Good stuff!

Highly Recommended!

Thanks to Juweela for the review sample
