WWII German 2cm Flak38 Barrel w/ Textured Barrel Changing Hand Grips and 2 Types of Ammo Magazines & Receiver Brackets .

The newest release from Griffon is a completely re-mastered metal barrel to replace any Flak   The entire kit is composed of the gun barrel and a muzzle; a small PE fret composed of eighteen parts complete the kit by providing two versions of the ammo cartridge that housed the 2cm rounds. Griffon provides us with an early variant as well as the late one. I must point that the ammo cartridges are a kit by themselves and require a lot of attention.

I started my build up by carefully removing the plastic barrel off a Tristar Flak, Griffon suggests that I drill the old plastic carrier and then insert the metal one which I did with ease. Once the barrel was in its fixed place, I built the cartridge insertion sleeve which is really composed of just one part. It bent easily and neatly since Griffon has given us a relatively thick PE fret which can bend without deforming. Then I turned my attention to the ammo cartridge and this is a gem in itself! Built from four separate pieces, it falls into a category of its own and Griffon has done a most remarkable job on that one! It is detailed, and very, very accurate and a quick comparison to the ones we get in plastic would justify the effort and the extra money spent. The last part I built was the flash suppressor which, as I mentioned earlier, is something quite remarkable.

Overall this super detail set from Griffon is worth every penny, and can be considered as an indispensible accessory part for anyone building any of the new kits incorporating the Flak 38.

Many thanks to Griffon Models for supplying this review sample.
