Harder and Steenbeck

Evolution Solo Airbrush

            .

The Evolution Solo has been the best selling airbrush in Europe for several years and was only available to US customer by ordering from abroad. It is now available in the US from the Harder and Steenbeck website : http://www.precisiongermanairbrush.com/. A ten year limited warranty is included on all airbrushes and shipping is free on items totaling over$250.00 within the United States.

The Evolution Solo consists of a .020 mm tip, a 2ml gravity feed paint cup and the optional Quick Fix adapter. The quick fix is to limit the amount of paint you want. What that means is if you want to paint the same size line repeatedly you simply press the silver button in the center of the knob and turn the dial to the desired setting. When you want full control of the paint again just pull back on the adjusting knob .

Optional Quick Fix adapter Part Number 123663  $23.60

A really nice feature included is the quick connect air hose connection. If you use multiple airbrushes then this feature is a real asset. Fittings for all major airbrushes are available which will make airbrush changes quick and easy.

I tried the Solo on an old Matilda shelf queen and was very impressed at how smooth the trigger action was and what a nice feel it had. The balance seemed almost perfect. As you can see by my test photos the spray was very tight with little if any overspray, just the thing you need for those German camo schemes. The quick fix adapter took a me a litlle time to adjust to but I was able to spray equal width lines after a liitle practice. This is a really great idea !!  This airbrush is definitly capable of much better results than I can provide ( the hands are not rock steady like they used to be ) but after a few practice sessions even the novice builder will be able to paint his camo schemes freehand with outstanding results.

Cleanup is typical of all double action airbrushes but one really good idea is the removable paint cup, it just screws on and off making it easy to keep that airbrush clean as a whistle.

No instructions were included in my sample, I'm not sure if that was an oversight but a quick trip to the Harder and Steenbeck website:  http://www.precisiongermanairbrush.com/,  provided me with a PDF file available for download. At  their website you can also check out their entire airbrush line along with all the optional parts  and accessories.

For those of you going to the AMPS Nationals in Auburn Ind. this year, stop by the Harder and Steenbeck table and check out their outstanding products.

I really liked this airbrush and Highly Recommend it to anyone considering buying a new one.

Highly Recommended
