AMPS Shows are Back!
We are 40 days out until the largest showing of 1:1 scale military vehicles and AFV models starts on August 12 at the Century Convention Center in South Bend, Indiana.
If you enjoy armor modeling and military vehicles, you don't want to miss this event! There are rooms blocked at three different hotels with special rates for this event. Go to the AMPS show at https://www.amps-armor.org/SiteShows/ShowMain.aspx?sid=10107#OtherHotels for instructions on reserving a room.
You can Pre-Register for the Show Now
Pre-registration is now open until Saturday 31 July 2021. While we are all hunkering down in the man cave getting ready to get back into the swing of attending shows again, now is a great time to pre-register for this event. We know that most of you have been building your armor models in unprecedented numbers during the COVID lockdowns. For this reason, we are placing a FIVE model ceiling on the number of models you can enter in the competition.
Click here to pre-register: https://www.amps-armor.org/SiteShows/Registration/IntroRegister.aspx?sid=10107
We anticipate a large number of entrants for this show so pre-registering your entries on the AMPS show site removes that rushed feeling you get when you're quickly filling out model entry forms at the registration table followed by the nagging feeling you get after dropping the forms off that you forgot to list a few things on your model entry forms as you stroll through the vendors area. Pre-registration is a real time saver for the modeler and removes that last thing you've got to do before enjoying the vendor room experience...well except for those arriving and having been on the road for the last 6 hours and consumed 18 cups of coffee.
While pre-registering, don’t forget to volunteer for a judging shift or other job at the show. We can’t conduct a successful AMPS show without the help of a lot of volunteers, both behind the scenes and in plain view. While the jobs of some of the 'behind the scenes' folks are slowly beginning to wind down, the need for the 'front line' folks will soon be upon us and we can sure use the help. As mentioned earlier we anticipate a large number of entries, so we’ll need a lot of judges.
You can register to help us out by signing up to judge or volunteer for other positions supporting registration and raffle by clicking here: https://www.amps-armor.org/SiteShows/Volunteers/Volunteer.aspx?sid=10107.
Vendors/Show Schedule/Seminars: As usual, we have a great lineup of vendors and great seminar topics. Visit the AMPS Show page at https://www.amps-armor.org/SiteShows/ShowMain.aspx?sid=10107#Show-Schedule to view the show schedule and amazing list of seminars.
You can see the list of the vendors attending the show by clicking here: https://www.amps-armor.org/SiteShows/ShowMain.aspx?sid=10107#Show-Vendors
Sponsorships: AMPS Marketing Director, Frank Froment is coordinating the AMPS "Best of" and category sponsorship drives this year. Review the category sponsor list and consider sponsoring a category or perhaps your AMPS chapter sponsoring a category or two. Sponsoring the "Best of's" and individual categories directly supports AMPS by allowing funds otherwise designated for sponsorships, to be used in other significant areas in an effort to put on a great show for all attendees. And the individual award recipients certainly do appreciate it. Reach out to Frank at frank.froment at gmail.com for more details.
Raffle Donations: The legendary AMPS show raffle has always been a show pleaser...well for the lucky winners anyway. Proceeds from the raffle go to the AMPS treasury in supporting current and future shows and preservation projects. "Raffle King'" Frank Ciccarella, our AMPS Raffle Coordinator, is behind the scenes coordinating with manufacturers and show vendors for kits, books and tool donations to make this event’s raffle really big. But AMPS still needs your help. We are looking for donations of new condition kits, figures, aftermarket and conversion sets, tools and reference materials would be most appreciated by AMPS, Frank and most certainly, the lucky winner. If you cannot make it to the show this year, you can mail them to Frank at:
Frank Ciccarella
1438 E. Haven Lane
Olathe, Kansas 66062
Or, if you plan on bringing your donation to the show, email Frank at: fciccarell at aol.com and let him know what you will be bringing to donate.
If you have questions, email our Show Chair John Charvat at j_charvat at cox.net, or post on AMPS Facebook Social Page or on the Events Discussion Board on the AMPS website.
That is for now. Hope to see you in South Bend in 40 days, model on!
Cheers!
