Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International- August 2024

If it seems like we just posted an MMI review recently, thats because we did! Thankfully, the postal service got the August issue out in a bit more timely fashion, so we get to see this issue before it leaves the shelves...and what an issue it is. The folks at Guideline have a jam-packed issue with all sorts of eras represented here. After editor David Grummitt's editorial, we dive in to the News at the Front section with the latest releases from Ukraine stalwarts ICM and Miniart, as well as MXBON Hobby Mate, Tyrell Models, Inside the Armour, Plus Model, CMK, and AK Interactive. U.S. Assistant Editor Rob Riviezzo previews the Rye Field Models Sd. Kfz.234/2 Puma with another one of his awesome "naked" builds. There are three pages of Quartermaster's Stores that follow.

The August articles start up with an excellent piece by Chris Johnson, "Clapped Out Tug of War" and his Canadian Centurion ARV. The build is based on the AFV Club Mk. V and is tricked out with Accurate Armor's Centurion ARV Mk. 2 (Short Hull) conversion kit as well as aftermarket wheels and tracks.

Next up is Łukasz Orczyk-Musiałek's "The Last Line of Defence" where Łukasz builds up Tamiya's Panzer IV/70(A) with some aftermarket and scratch-built goodies...

Huw Morgan builds up the Magic Factory 1/35 kit for "Iron Dome Air Defense System".

The Armour in Profile article by Tomasz Basarabowicz "Under New Management" looks at captured German AFVs and vehicles in British and Allied hands.

"Somewhere in French Indochina, 1953" features Stefan Szymanski's build of the Hauler resin 1/72 M-29C Crabe. Stefan adds the piece to a scratch-built base with the Airfix 'Jungle Outpost' set and figures created in his own line from Creative Small Scale Factory.

"Travel Light, Punch Hard" looks at Diego Bruzzone's build of the Takom AMX-13/90...

Editor David Grummitt gives us a sneak peek behind the scenes of the Musée des Blindés in "Hidden Treasures of Saumur".

This month's featured At the Bench modeller is Kristof Pulinckx and features some of his excellent works...

We get a bit of a two for one deal for Showtime with coverage of the Saumur International Model Show and a conclusion of the Moson Show report...

The final article, "Panther in the Mist" by David Bridges highlights his build of Dragon's 1/35 Panther G Late Production on a scratch-built base.

The issue concludes with 4 reviews in Words & Pictures-- three of Osprey books and one French language book on the Panhard from Histoire et Collections.

Conclusion

That wraps up another issue of MMI with some excellent articles over a wide range of topics. There is definitely something for everyone here. As always, here is a link to the Guideline Publications website www.guidelinepublications.co.uk and US customers can subscribe to MMI and pay in US dollars at www.guidelinepublicationsusa.com

Highly Recommended for Beginner to Advanced builders.

Thanks goes out to Guideline Publications for this review sample.
