Multifunctional Boat PR.23370 & Anti-Sabotage Boat PR.21980 2+2+2
The multifunctional boats are designed to carry out search and rescue operations at their home stations and in open waters. These boats consist of a universal catamaran platform with a large working area on the main deck where sets of removable specialized technical equipment and removable container modules can be installed using a standard mounting system.
The Grachonok class patrol boat is a large anti-sabotage boat designed to combat saboteurs and terrorists in the waters near Russian bases.
The kit is designated as 2+2+2 because it will build a total of 6 boats: 2 identical Grachonok class patrol boats, 4 multifunctional boats in two different configurations. There appears to be enough parts to do some custom configurations on the multifunctional boats and there are enough decals to give all 4 boats a different hull number.
What's in the box
The kit arrived in TAKOM's standard heavy duty top opening box with all sprues sealed in individual plastic bags. The kit contains 6 sprues, 2 loose ship hulls and 2 photo etch frets with over 200 PE parts spread over 2 frets. There are approximately 388 total parts in the box. An 8.5x5 inch 17 step assembly guide is included (Some of the steps are repeated twice for each boat.). A couple of steps are a little busy, but each shows good parts placement. If there is any question of the correct location of an individual PE part, one of the following steps will show the installed part in its proper place.
The basic plastic assembly appears to be pretty straightforward, but there are some very small parts that will definitely require a set of needle nose tweezers to manipulate. The PE parts are small and delicately made. You will need a good PE bending tool to make multiple bends in the ladders and masts.
There is also a small decal sheet.
Sprue Map:
Sprue B: (x2)
This sprue contains the plastic parts used to build the 3.25 inch long Grachonok patrol boat. The superstructure windows are molded as shallow depressions in the plastic. These could be drilled out and filled with a white glue product to make a more realistic window. There is a lot of detail molded into the plastic parts.
Sprue D: (x2)
This sprue contains the parts needed to build two different versions of the 2.5 inch long multipurpose boat. The two sprue Ds will build a total of 4 boats.
The superstructure windows are molded as shallow depressions in the plastic. These could be drilled out and filled with a white glue product to make a more realistic window. There is a lot of detail molded into the plastic parts.

Paint Guide:
The paint guide shows the overall hull colors for the ships. There are no detail painting callouts in the instructions and there are no manufacturer paint reference colors.

Conclusion
As usual TAKOM has produced a quality kit of an interesting naval subject. On the surface these would appear to be simple kits to build, but the amount of small PE parts and the multiple bends needed to form some of them will require a builder with a fair amount of practice in working with delicate PE parts. Once completed they will have an inherent WOW factor due to their small size and high level of PE detail.
Highly Recommended for Intermediate to Advanced builders. Not recommended for basic builders due to the small size and large amount of small PE parts.
Thanks goes out to TAKOM for this review kit.
