Model Military International- November 2024

The November issue of Model Military International is a good assortment of various genres of modeling to spend a cold winter night reading through and gaining inspiration from as we embark on a new year of the hobby. Newsline opens the issue with new releases of Gecko Models- two in 1/35 (Korean War British FV18001 Mk.1 80in 4x4 Utility Vehicle and a 60s/70s Southern Vietnamese & Japanese Motorbike Set) and a 1/16 WWII German Trench Periscope Set.

The Think Tank features a close look at Zil-157 and BM-13 Katyusha which has 10 pages of clear walk around photos of the vehicle from various aspects.

Next up is a preview of Tamiya's Machine Gun Team which takes a closer look at another great set of figures showing how well designed these recent sets from Tamiya are.

Build articles are up next- with the first one from Zack Sex with his build of Trumpeter's Soviet 2B7 Multiple Rocket Launcher BM-13 NN on a Zil-157 in "Ogaden Obliterator".

Next up is Javier Redondo Gimenez and "Battlefield Bulldozer" with his build of Mirror Models' Caterpillar D7 Armoured Bulldozer.

"Reach for the Sky" relates Part 2 of Brett Green's work on his conversion of the Tamiya M4 Sherman Early with the Bold Division Skink 20mm Quad Anti-Aircraft Tank set.

Gary Edmundson is up next with the cover story- his conversion of Takom's Mk. I Female to a Mk. II in "By Earth and Air". Gary also added the Copper State Models new British Motorcycle TR.Model H to recreate a neat scene with a resupply of carrier pigeons to the tank crew.

The Incoming section features reports on products from DEF. Model, Takom, and Scorpion Miniature Models. Book Reviews highlights 4 books from Helion & Company and Osprey Publishing. The issue wraps up with a roundup of the latest in 1/48 scale with reviews from Luke Pitt and Alan Wells on products from H3 Models, Inside the Armour, and Dogfight Workshop.

After a sneak peek at the next issue, we get a Last Post of Exercise Brahman Rebuild 24.

Great to see modeling periodicals doing such quality work and even better to see David Doyle Books making these UK publications easily available to those of us in the United States to peruse through and gain inspiration and motivation from.

Highly Recommended for modellers at all levels.

Thanks goes out to David Doyle Books for this review sample.
