What's Inside

The Panzerwrecks series of books are coveted by modelers all over for the excellent reference photos and inspiration for their vignettes and dioramas. Panzerwrecks 26 predominantly features a collection of photos from Stefan De Meyer who has a particular interest in the Ardennes Offensive. There is a biography of Stefan on the inside rear cover of the book. The book is separated into six separate sections-

  • Steel Wheels at Stoumont Station
  • Sturmgeschütz in Disguise
  • Jagdpanthers in the Mud
  • Stavelot Panther ‘115’
  • Tiger at the Station
  • Trois Ponts Tiger

There is also a one page insert that serves as an index for the book...

It is always difficult to choose which photos to feature in the review as there are so many choices- but I did my best to feature some below. As is usual for the series, there are QR codes that you can scan and be brought to modern day Google Map images of the settings from the wartime photos. Some photos (six in this case) are accompanied by artwork by Felipe Rodna that are color reproductions of the photos- with an example below of the Sturmgeschütz in Disguise from Géromont.

Conclusion

I am always grateful to see a new Panzerwrecks volume released. This one was particularly timely as I am working on a diorama of a Sherman set in the Ardennes at the later stages of the Bulge so I have been studying the winter settings in the images and taking notes as I work on the groundwork. Another worthy addition to the series and one I am happy to have in my collection.

Highly Recommended for Beginner to Advanced builders.

Thanks goes out to Panzerwrecks for this review sample.
