Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International May 2025
This month's MMI returns focus to WWII themes with some excellent articles. Editor David Grummitt gives a shout out to the new Modeling Insanity TV You Tube channel and some of Rob Riviezzo's recent builds featured there as well as in current issues of MMI. We also see the start of show season as spring is in full swing- with MMI making trips to the Moson show this month, as well as AMPS Nationals in Camp Hill where a brand new David Doyle book will be making its debut in collaboration with MMI. The issue features a number of folks known to AMPS members here in the US, including the At the Bench article focused on Chief Judge David Vickers.
News at the Front features a build of the Vargas Scale Models 1/35 Little Willie Tritton tank by Steve Santucci, as well as new release information from Miniart, Tyrell Models, ICM, Das Werk, HD Models, and Echelon Fine Decals. An On the Bench peek at Rob Riviezzo's build up of Tamiya's new tooled Hotchkiss H39 follows and then two pages of Quartermaster's Stores.
MMI welcomes new contributor Jeff Fellers as he builds up AFV Club's Churchill AVRE Mk. III in "You So Funny". Jeff adds Voyager PE and Friulmodel tracks as well as a mix of aftermarket and scratchbuilt stowage to his build.
Another newcomer, Harald Fitz, is featured this month in "Old and Used Up" as he builds Miniart's T-55 with KMT-5M Mine Roller. Harald recreates an abandoned Egyptian tank from the Six-Day War left in a post-war scrapyard.
MP Robinson is up next with his Armour in Profile article highlighting the 76mm Gun Sherman. The article is jammed with loads of excellent reference photos as well as the usual excellent color profiles.
"Return to Sender" is next featuring TJ Haller's buildup of a mix of Asuka Sherman kits- the lower hull from the M4 Sherman Late "Fay" kit and the upper hull and turret from the M4A1 w/ Cast Cheek "Lucky Tiger". The model TJ built is based on the tank featured in the collection at Fort Moore (formerly Fort Benning).
Kristof Pulinckx builds the venerable 1994 Tamiya Sturmtiger kit in "Sturm Und Drang". Kristof recreates an abandoned Sturmtiger from Drolshagen, Germany in 1945 that is devoid of zimmerit.
"Into the Abyss" features a 1/72 WWI diorama by Marek Zindulka showcasing his build of the F&A Miniatures British Mk. IV Female 3D printed kit. Marek handpainted the markings and scratchbuilt the trench base which also is jammed with figures from Dynamo Models.
Domingo Hernandez is up with the last build article- "Reach for the Skies". In the article, Domingo builds up a unique Vomag conversion of the Das Werk kit using Bronco's German Telemeter KDO Kommandogerät 40 kit.
At the Bench this month features a well-known member of AMPS here in the U.S.- David Vickers. Folks can meet David at the upcoming AMPS Nationals in Camp Hill, PA on May 15th-17th. He will be busy in his usual duties as Chief Judge I am sure.
Words & Pictures closes this out with reviews of books from Mike Starmer, Black Prince Publications, and three Osprey titles.
Another excellent issue from Guideline Publications this month. If you are at AMPS Nationals later this month, be sure to stop by the Guideline table where US Associate Editor Rob Riviezzo will be joined by Sales & Marketing Director Tom Foxon and a soon to be announced new David Doyle title. If you haven't subscribed, here is a link to the Guideline Publications website www.guidelinepublications.co.uk and US customers can subscribe to MMI and pay in US dollars at www.guidelinepublicationsusa.com .
