Tracks for A34 Comet Tank

by

Panzerwerk Design

In the closing months of WW2, the British finally combined firepower, mobility and protection into a superb new tank design - the Comet.  This carried a 77mm high velocity gun derived from the 17 pounder gun on the Firefly, plus a whole new fast cruiser tank body.  The Comet was actually larger than it looks, and in dimensions was similar to the Tiger I.  In the final days of the war, an even better design - the Centurion - began to arrive, and this replaced the Comet, although the excellent Comet served in Palestine, Egypt, Berlin and Hong Kong, before finally being retired in 1959.  They also served with other nations, including Finland, South Africa and Ireland.

There are several 1/35 kits of the Comet, the most recent being from Tamiya.  These aftermarket tracks are the commonest style, and should fit on any kit.

The box contains instructions (pretty easy to follow!).  The pins are identical both sides, and click into place!  No more struggling with pins dropping out.

Inside the box is a bag of parts, extremely well packed......

First look at the links is mind-blowing.  How perfect is it possible to get???  Exact detail and no clean-up.  No marks, no flash, nothing.

th

The track pins are equally perfect, no fuss, just ready to use.  High magnification photos reveal no issues at all:

So how about assembly?  The pins just slide in, and two tiny ribs near the head will lock the pin into place.  The process took seconds..... No issues with fit or location.  The links are perfectly flexible, and don't need any glue!

The end result was a perfect fit......Just look at the quality of the links, including the tiny hole into the guide horn.  Incredible.

Two things about me: I'm a tough reviewer, and I've reviewed countless aftermarket track sets over the years.  I like to point out issues..... This set gives me a problem...... I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about it.  The tracks are simply perfect and assembly is as easy as it is possible to imagine.  Quality and accuracy are exceptional.

Short of reeling out a list of superlatives, I can't add anything.  This set is easily the best that I've seen, and I presume that the many other sets from Panzerwerk Design are equally good.  This is one of the situations where I'm left wondering what could possibly be better.  This set is well worth the cost, and greatly enhances a model.  Suddenly I want to make a Comet.....

Highly Recommended for Beginner to Advanced builders.

Thanks goes out to Panzerwerk Design for this review set.
