Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International- February 2026

One of the best times of the month is when the new MMI issue is in the mailbox- and this month's issue does not disappoint! There is something for everyone in the issue and some welcome new and returning authors are scattered throughout. Editor David Grummitt reflects on quality versus quantity and provides some words of encouragement to those who fret about what they feel is a lackluster output of completed models. David stresses the importance of community and resiliance-- keeping at it and not getting bogged down in minutiae. Some great advice David!
News at the Front highlights new releases from Doogs Studio, Scorpion Miniature Models, Alpine Miniatures, Screaming Toad Models, Enkay Tools, and HD Models. Three pages of Quartermaster's Stores are followed up by an On the Bench build of Tamiya's new 1/48 Leopard 2A7V by Rob Riviezzo. Rob knocks the build out of the park with an excellent paint job.

I was pleased to see the first article by one of my fellow Albany AMPS members- Shaun Pekar with his build of Meng's Rolls Royce Armoured Car set in German South West Africa with "Kifaru!" Shaun placed his car on a scratchbuilt foam base with a Cix Models resin African acacia tree and Copper State Models figure.

This month's Armour in Profile which features Patton and Pershing tanks is sandwiched by two excellent build articles. Up first is Ilya Yut with his build up of Takom's M46 Patton in "Show Me Your War Face!" Ilya takes the time to illustrate how he recreated the tiger scheme on his Korean War build.

M P Robinson authors the aforementioned Armour in Profile "The M26, M45, and M46 at War and in Peace" reviewing the Patton and Pershing tanks in Germany, 1945 and in Korea.

Ken Abrams is back to complement the profile piece with "Hand Me Down Heavy" and his weathered Korean War M26A1 based on the Dragon Models out of production kit. Ken gives us a master class on detailing and weathering that is very insightful.

Matt Edwards builds "The Very Odd Tiger" next with a kit-bash of Tiger kit offerings from Hobby Boss and Takom. Matt uses the kits to replicate a unique Tiger used at the Kummersdorf artillery ranges in Germany which had engaged Soviet tanks near Hortswalde.

Marek Zindulka is up next with "Pacific Alligator" featuring his out of production Dragon Models 1/72 LVT(A)-1. Marek modified the kit by enhancing the cast texture and replacing the tow rope, grab handles, and brush guards with brass wire and PE. Weathering was done with dot filtering and chipping.

"At the Bench" this month also features Marek with many of his small scale builds. We learn how he balances modeling with family and even his endeavors starting up Rattlesnake Product.

"Stalin's Hammer" is up next and features Ramón Segarra Guerrero's build of Tamiya's 1/48 IS-2. Ramón finishes his heavy tank with an excellent beat-up whitewash scheme.

The build articles conclude with Łukasz Orczyc-Musiałek's "Guarding the Skies" as he builds the Takom Gepard SPAAG in Ukrainian scheme. The build is accentuated by Eureka XXL cables, Fruilmodel tracks, and aftermarket camouflage netting.

The issue concludes with reviews of two Panzerwrecks and two Osprey Publications books in Words and Pictures.
This cold winter we have been having is mitigated by some hot tea and good reading in this issue. Excellent build articles by new, returning, and regular contributing authors make for some insightful methods and strategies this month.
