Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International- April 2026

This month's issue of MMI is just what the doctor ordered for rainy April weather! Editor David Grummitt opens up the issue with an interesting point on how appropriate it may be to depict modern conflicts like the Russia-Ukraine War and the current conflict between the US and Iran in modeling. He offers respectful intuition on the fact that sides are not always so clearly defined and that a measured approach is warranted. A one page memorial dedication to Guideline director Alan Corkhill accompanies the Forum article.

News at the Front features sneak peeks at products by Supple Line Studios, Miniart, Ray Studio/Tyrell Models, Masterbox, and ICM. Three pages of Quartermaster's Stores follows and then an At the Bench article by Rob Riviezzo and his sublime build of Gecko Models 1/35 British Infantry Tank Mk. I (A11 Type A) Matilda.

Chris Johnson is up next with his follow-up article on his I Love Kit MAN's 8x8 Cargo Hauler, "Tactical Lift". As always, Chris does some stellar work on painting and weathering this hauling beast and loads it up with AFV Club ammo.

Max Lemaire and J C Windels work together in "Getting Technical" as they build the AK Interactive 1/35 FJ43 Pickup with DShKM. They load it up with gear and show how they weathered the Syrian Technical.

Part 2 of Thomas Anderson's Armour in Profile article on the Nashorn follows and focuses this time on the combat experience of the famous tank destroyer.

"Ambush in the Ardennes" features Ivan Momcha Momcilovic's build up of Tamiya's classic Panther Type G Late. Ivan updated the kit with an aftermarket metal barrel and Fruil tracks.

Ramón Segarra Guerrero is up next with his Staghound build in "Dogs of War". The article keeps mentioning it as from Meng, but the Availability tag at the end of the article features the Bronco kit. Regardless, Ramón has done an amazing job on his build and chose the 12th Manitoba Dragoons II Canadian Armoured Car Regiment.

At the Bench returns this month and features a builder known to MMI readers for his small scale builds- Stefan Szymanski. Many stunning photos of his 1/72 works that span from WWI to modern armor are represented in the article.

Jaffe Lam is up next with "Swamp Workhorse" and his build of Gecko's M76 Otter. The Otter is well weathered and features the red dust common to vehicles present in the Vietnam War.

Rounding up the build articles is "Putin's Folly" which features Peter Hano and his small scale Meng T-72B3M in Ukraine. Peter upgraded his kit with PE from SG-Modeling and 3D printed accessories from Rockit Studio.

Words and Pictures features reviews of new books from Panzer Tracts, Emfour Publishing, and Osprey Publishing.

Conclusion

Another exciting month of articles from all genres in this issue- and its heartening to see such a wide variety of talent throughout.  If you haven't subscribed, here is a link to the Guideline Publications website: www.guidelinepublications.co.uk and US customers can subscribe to MMI and pay in US dollars at www.guidelinepublicationsusa.com .
