Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International- June 2026

The weather is getting nicer and nicer and the end of my school year means prime model bench time all summer-- the perfect time to get the newest issue of Military Modelcraft International in the mailbox!! Not that there ever is a bad time to be sure-- and this issue is filled with goodies. We are also in prime show season and editor David Grummitt talks up the April Moson show in Hungary- and the cover features a gold medal winner from the show and there is a spread of images in the Show Report at the end of the issue.

To begin with though, we get two Paul Bennett 1/72 reviews in News at the Front- featuring his work on the 3D Gizmo Sherman tank and FoxHopp Models Ferret Mk. 2/3 and Mk. 2/6 Vigilant. The section also offers previews of releases from Dynamo Models, Copper State Models, J.W. de Boer Modelbouw, Miniart, 3R Model, ICM, and Pimp My Miniatures. Four pages of Quartermaster's Stores complete the section.

On the Bench features a build-up by Rob Riviezzo of Gecko Models 1/16 Marder II- another great naked model by Rob!

Rick Lawler is up next with his build of AK Interactive's M1008 Troop Carrier is "Cold War Troop Carrier". We get a thorough step-by-step of Rick's build of this Gulf War workhorse.

"Patton in the Paddies" is up next- with Stefan Szymanski's build of another 1/72 kit- Modelltrans M48A3 based in Vietnam. Stefan tricks out his build with some laser-cut signs by TB-Design and a handcart from Hauler.

Armour in Profile this month by David Doyle delves into the M113, M113A1, and Variants- the article ties right in to David's new book on the M113 that he partnered on with Guideline Publications.

"Six-Day Desert Warrior" focuses on Chris Johnson's build of Takom's M1 Super Sherman. The build article was featured in the December 2025 On the Bench and Chris returns to paint and finish this one. The article has a error in crediting another modeler but this is Chris' work and a real treat to be sure.

Peter Hanno's "March on Moscow" features a build of the Trumpeter 1/72 T-80BV. The build was inspired by the Wagner Group's mutiny in June 2023.

Next up is 'Achtung! Sie Fliegen' by Ramón Segarra and centers on his build of ICM's new Sd.Kfz. 3b Ford Half-track with Flak 38.

The Moson 2026 Showtime article features a nine-page spread of some of the best dioramas and vignettes that were present at the April show....

To wrap things up, Giampiero Bianchi's "Factory of Fire" with a 360° Kharkiv diorama which won a gold medal at the show. It is a masterclass in diorama building with scratch-built elements as well as two sets from RT Diorama, a Border Model Panzer IV Ausf. G, and a Tamiya Schwimmwagen. Giampiero also filled the base with 27 resin figures from various manufacturers.

Words & Pictures features only one review- a new Osprey book on Soviet Artillery Tractors of WWII.

Conclusion

I always find reading a new issue of MMI inspiring- and a great way to break out of a modeling funk. There are always loads of great articles on techniques and artistic nuances to explore.
