Guideline Publications- Military Modelcraft International- September 2026

September is the time where all things autumn start coming in force- pumpkin spice everything, fall foliage, back-to-school activities- mostly things probably not all that popular with most elder modelers. One thing pretty much any modeler of any age can agree on though is that a new issue of Military Modelcraft International means you are in for a treat- no tricks! (Ooops sorry- that's an October thing). There is loads of great content in this issue so let's get to it...

Editor David Grummitt was a recent guest on the Modeling Insanity podcast and that show brought up the issue of AI and whether it had a place in modeling. If you ask 10 different modelers, you will get 10 different opinions on the matter- but it can be a useful tool in planning dioramas or vignettes, or in presenting your finished piece in the setting it was appropriate to be in. I have not ever tried using it myself, but each modeler should be allowed to model the way they wish that gives them enjoyment in their hobby. News at the Front this month gives focused looks at new products from Revell, Vargas Models, Inside the Armour, Model Cellar, Dynamo Models, Panzer Mate, MiniArt, Resicast, and Meng Model. Four pages of Quartermaster's Stores follow.

This month's On the Bench features Rob Riviezzo's build article of the Demon Barber Design BT-5 Conversion. Rob uses their Late Hull Conversion, Turret, and Early Tracks to spruce up the Hobby Boss Late BT-2 kit.

Özgür Güner is up next with "Normandy Door Knocker" as he builds the Hobby Boss 1/35 4.7cm PaK(t) Sfl. auf Fgst. Pz.Kpfw. 35 R 731(f).  Özgür scratch built another interior to display next to his finished piece which looks amazing.

"The Tzar's New Clothes (T-90 aka the T-72BU)" from Stefan Szymanski shows off his build of Vespid's 1/72 T-90 (Mod. 1992) Russian MBT. As always, the amount of detail these guys do with these small scale builds- especially with the figures is truly impressive.

MP Robinson explores the Medium Tank M3 in US Army Service in this month's Armour in Profile. Loads of great reference photos in this one- and it even has me eyeing my Miniart kit in the stash.

"Eastern Front Fire Support" brings back Jaffe Lam with his build of Dragon's 1/35 Panzer III Ausf. N with Schürzen. Jaffe has done a masterful job with painting the kit and accompanying figures from Panzer Art.

Next up is this month's At the Bench featuring Luke Pitt. People will recognize the name of this excellent Australian modeler for his quarterscale model work and as one of the hosts of the Quarter Scale Madness podcast and it is nice to see his work here.

Łukasz Orczyc-Musiałek builds a Border Models Tiger I in "Tiger Training".  Łukasz used Eureka ropes and cables and Quicktracks tracks, among other aftermarket parts, to step up his game with the build.

"Action Jackson!" features Javier Redondo's build of the AFV Club M36 Jackson. Panzer Art stowage and sand armor and Miniart M3/M4 roadwheels add lots to the build.

Max Lemaire closes out the build articles this issue with "T-55 Enigma (Second Version)" as he build up another Tamiya T-55 with the Legend conversion set to pair up with one he built for a 2018 MMI article.

Words and Pictures closes out the issue with three new releases from Osprey Publishing.

Conclusion

While we will all probably miss the warmer weather and vacation time with family and friends- September brings fall model shows and more time inside to do the hobby we all love. This month's MMI gives some great advice and inspiration to all.  If you haven't subscribed, here is a link to the Guideline Publications website: www.guidelinepublications.co.uk and US customers can subscribe to MMI and pay in US dollars at www.guidelinepublicationsusa.com .
