Time Left to Finish Your Models:
The AMPS Central Pennsylvania Chapter (AMPS Central PA) presents the 2025 AMPS International Convention to be held May 15-17, 2025 at the Penn-Harris Hotel in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, right across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, the state capital. This is the second large event sponsored by AMPS Central PA, formed in 2005; our previous event, the 2023 AMPS International Convention, was deemed an unqualified success by all who attended, and we expect the same this time around.
Penn-Harris is the ideal venue, with nearly 20,000 square feet of extremely flexible convention space divided between an enormous 15,000 square feet ballroom (designated for display and vendors) and 5,000 square feet of meeting space (for judging and seminars).
For room reservations at the Penn-Harris Hotel right next door to the convention venue, please click this link, which will take you directly to the hotel to get the special convention rate.
The Convention will be easy to get to--the Harrisburg, PA area lies at the intersection of a number of major transportation routes (U.S. Route 76--the Pennsylvania Turnpike--, Route 81, Route 83, Route 15) and is a reasonable drive from four major international airports on the East Coast, plus the cities of Washington D.C., Baltimore MD., and Philadelphia, PA. Camp Hill is the perfect place to hold another AMPS convention!
The AMPS International Show could not take place without the generous support of these and other sponsors.
AMPS 2025 Theme African Armor Definition
Any armored themed entry serving on the African continent from 1899 to the present. Entry must contain documentation. (I interpret
documentation as what we require for the .5 point for research).
Dave Vickers, AMPS Chief Judge
AMPS created a unique system to both judge the model and honor the modeler for artistic achievement and historical accuracy. It is a peer evaluation and mentoring and not a performance critique by experts. The system groups modelers that have similar skill levels and talents and rates the model in relation to the ability of the modeler rather than against the work of another modeler. The skill levels are Junior, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Master.
Each model is reviewed and evaluated on its own merits and never compared to another one. Established criteria determine the scoring of the model and qualify the modeler for Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Each model is judged by a team of judges that score the model independently and the lowest score among the team is dropped. Constructive feedback is provided that sets a path to becoming a better, more skilled modeler.
